These are engraved wooden stamps that are used to print the block print fabrics, it is undoubtedly the oldest printing technique.
Each piece of wood is hand-engraved by an artisan and then dipped in stain. The patterns are then repeated on pieces of fabrics stretched over tables of five meters long.
The process is slow and sometimes slightly imprecise, but the irregularities are the charm of the patterns. Most of our fabrics are printed with vegetable dyes and require delicate hand washing.
