FROM NOVEMBER 29, 2017 UPTO JANUARY 13, 2018
Chiranji Lal & sons was a studio operating long ago in Alwar, a princedom North-East of Jaipur.
In the 1990’s, we bought from the successor of the studio the glass negatives encapsulating the memory of the city. There were maharajahs, and princesses, cruel looking bearded counsellors, chubby yogis, gaunt sadhus and extra old sages.
From the last black and white photo lab still in activity in Jaipur whe had argentic prints made after the glass plates.
It took us some time to convince the last black and white photo lab in activity in Jaipur to have argentic prints made from the glass plates. And it took even more time to convince Santosh who is working for the City Palace in Jaipur to tint the prints.

The enamels, made to measure are constantly renewed and with the contribution of chance and a high temperature cooking, each piece is different.
